The AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) Forum & Exco took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from October 11 till 14, 2009 gathering more than 600 participants.

Dominique Kaesmacher, President of the AIPPI Belgian Branch and Chief IP Attorney with Kirkpatrick represented our firm at this occasion.  This year, the four following topics were examined during the Exco meetings :

• The impact of Co-Ownership of IPR on their Exploitation (Q194);
• Border measures and other Means of Customs Intervention against Infringers (Q208);
• Selection Invention the Inventive Step Requirement, other Patentability Criteria and Scope of Protection (Q209);
• The Protection of Major Sports Events and associated commercial activities through Trademarks and other IPR (Q210).

During the Forum, major topics such as "IP and the global financial crisis" and "Environmental issues in the context of patent protection" were discussed.
